Licenses & Accounts
Typilot uses lightweight licensing so you can unlock the desktop app instantly, work offline, and manage devices with confidence.
🔑 You only need to activate once per device • Works offline for up to 3 days between validations • Friendly errors guide you through any fixes
Activate Typilot in three steps
- Launch Typilot. If this is your first time, the activation window opens automatically. You can also revisit it under Settings → License.
- Paste your license key (format
AURA-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). Typilot uppercases the key for you—no need to type it manually. - Click Activate License. You will see a green toast confirming success and the license tile in Settings updates immediately.
api.typilot.com.Understanding license status messages
Your license validated successfully with our server and Typilot is ready to use on this device.
Typilot last reached the licensing server less than 3 days ago. You can keep working offline but reconnect soon.
The subscription renewal date has passed. Renew the plan or enter a new license key to keep Typilot unlocked.
Typilot could not verify the key for this device. Double-check the key, then contact support if it still fails.
Typilot will fall back to the last known good validation if the internet is temporarily unavailable. You will see the exact date in Settings → License.
Typilot stores the most recent validation locally. If you go offline, it keeps working for three days. After that window the app will prompt you to reconnect and refresh the license.
Your Typilot account
Download portal
Visit Account → Downloads on typilot.com to grab installers for Windows, macOS, and Linux, plus verify how many devices are currently activated.
Billing & invoices
Update payment methods, download receipts, and switch plans from Account → Billing. Changes sync back to the desktop app automatically on the next validation.
Device management
Remove old devices with a single click. Typilot will immediately free up the seat so you can activate another machine without contacting support.
Email reminders
We send friendly reminders before renewals or when a device goes offline for too long. Keep support@typilot.com on your allow list so you never miss an update.
Working on multiple devices
Each user license covers two active devices simultaneously. Activating a third device prompts you to deactivate one of the previous machines or upgrade your plan.
Switching computers is easy: deactivate from the web dashboard, install Typilot on the new machine, and reuse the same key. Settings, prompts, and history remain local, so export anything you need before retiring the old device.
Troubleshooting
License key rejected
- Make sure you copy the key exactly as shown in the email (including the dashes).
- Check that your computer clock is correct—large time differences cause validation errors.
- Try again after disabling VPNs or firewalls that may block requests to api.typilot.com.
Grace period expired while offline
- Connect to the internet and open Typilot to refresh the license (the status updates automatically).
- If you are in an air‑gapped environment, email support with your license key and device fingerprint (shown in the error dialog).
Moving to a new machine
- Install Typilot on the new device and sign in to your account at typilot.com.
- Deactivate the old device from the account dashboard if you see a “device limit reached” message.
- Enter the same license key on the new machine. Typilot will register it with a fresh fingerprint.
Still stuck? Email contact@typilot.com with your license key (mask the middle section) and a screenshot of the error message.
Support hours: Monday–Friday, 9am to 6pm UTC. We aim to respond within one business day.
Need to revalidate quickly?
Open Typilot, head to Settings → License, and click “Check again”. The app contacts the licensing server and refreshes your validation timestamp instantly.
